Signing Up
What is ZooLoo?
ZooLoo is your complete online environment built around your own domain name (daverocks.zooolo.com, www.sarajanesmith.me, www.Ashley87.me), giving you the tools to manage your life online. ZooLoo is both your personal space and your own site that is unique to you.
What do I get with ZooLoo?
All ZooLoo accounts have a unique domain name (ZooLoo Free accounts use yoursite.zooloo.com and ZooLoo Plus accounts give you a personal domain name) that you select. You also get a personal dashboard, easy-to-use site and blog builder, zControls Privacy Manager, zSocial tools to manage your connections and share information, photo manager for storage, sharing, and printing, on-demand entertainment center, customizable shopping mall, zLife organizational tools (calendar, address book, invitations) and more.
What are the benefits of paying for a ZooLoo Plus membership?
ZooLoo Plus members get their own domain name (www.sarajanesmith.me). In addition, they also receive unlimited site pages, advanced site building tools, two personal e-mail addresses for their new domain (sarah@sarahjanesmith.me), 3 GB total storage (with no monthly upload limit) and more. Can I upgrade my ZooLoo Free account after I sign up?
You can upgrade at any time. To do this, visit the "Settings" tab in zControls and click "Upgrade." All of your site information will simply transfer over to your new domain.
Domain Names
How do I get my domain name?
With ZooLoo, your experience begins with choosing your own domain name in our sign up process. Your domain name is unique to you and is where your friends or the world can find you...so get inspired! Currently, ZooLoo offers .com, .net. .me and .info domains.
Your domain can be anything you want it to be: your name, any expression of yourself, a group, marketing or just something fun.
Can I use a domain I already own for my ZooLoo site?
Yes, but only if you sign up for a ZooLoo Plus account. During the sign up process you will be given the option to enter a domain name that you already own. After completing sign up, you will be e-mailed the simple instructions to finish the process. Remember, you can always choose to purchase a new domain name through ZooLoo during sign-up.
Security & Privacy
Is my site private?
Yes, the content you create is always private until you change it in your Privacy Manager.
Can my site be public?
Yes, only if you want it to be. By default, the content that you create is private. You can easily change this in zControls, using your Privacy Manager. You can manage privacy settings on a page-by-page and album basis.
Can I have a site that is private, public and exclusive (invite-only)?
Yes, you can have all three. You have complete control over all of the privacy settings of your ZooLoo site.
How do people view my ZooLoo site?
If you make your site public, anyone can see it by going directly to your domain (without having to sign up for ZooLoo). If your site is private or exclusive (invite only), your friends will need to sign up for a ZooLoo Free or a ZooLoo Plus account to see your site. You can easily send them an invitation through ZooLoo. Once they sign up, they will automatically become your friend on ZooLoo. At that point, you are able to give them access to your content through zControl's Privacy Manager.
Do I retain all rights to content I post on my ZooLoo site?
Yes.
Will my site appear on search engines?
Only if you decide to make any of your pages public. You can also choose to optimize pages to appear higher in search engines in zCreator. Remember, search engines will not read any page that is private or invite-only.
Is ZooLoo for kids, too?
Yes, there's a lot for kids to do on ZooLoo. However, we highly encourage parents to supervise their kids when they are anywhere on the Internet. In our Privacy Policy, we specify that no one under the age of 13 can have their own ZooLoo account.
Will there be ads on my site?
Yes, however, we will soon be launching the Z Audience advertising control center, giving you the ability to decide the type and look of the ads you see. ZooLoo offers an upgrade package to remove all advertising from your site, if that is your preference.
Technology
What is behind the ZooLoo technology?
ZooLoo is built with open source products PHP5, Symfony, PostgreSQL, jQuery and Apache. We also use Java and Flash for visual elements and all of our servers run Linux. Our zCreator uses technologies including jQuery, AJAX, CSS and HTML to create dynamic and customizable pages.
What are your system requirements?
We support Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, Opera and Internet Explorer 7 & 8. If you're using a different browser (perhaps one provided by your internet service provider), it may not be compatible.

What is the up time of my website?
ZooLoo operates with a 99.9% uptime. We will have planned updates from time-to-time that may cause short temporary outages. In this case, you will be notified in advance.
How long does it take for my ZooLoo site to go live for my friends and family to see?
Your site can take between 5 minutes to 48 hours to propagate around the world.
Do I need any technical skills to create a ZooLoo site?
No, you do not need any technical skills or programming knowledge to create your ZooLoo site. All you need are basic Internet skills. We use simple drag-and-drop technology that was built with non tech-savvy users in mind.

How much storage space do I have on ZooLoo?
With a ZooLoo Free account, you have 2GB of total storage space with a monthly upload allowance of 100MB. With a ZooLoo Plus membership, you have 3 GB of total storage space with no monthly upload limit. You can always add more storage to a ZooLoo Plus account.
Can I use my Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr, Ebay (and more) when I'm on ZooLoo?
Yes. You can integrate your Facebook, Twitter, eBay and Flickr accounts into ZooLoo through widgets in My ZooLoo. We will soon offer the ability to integrate many more third-party sites.
Can I create my own blog using ZooLoo?
Yes. We'll take you through the process step-by-step in our Help! area. You will need to give permissions for friends (or the world) to see your blog in the zControl's Privacy Manager.
Do I get an e-mail address with my ZooLoo site?
Yes, if you have a ZooLoo Plus account, you get two e-mail addresses for your domain name (ex: sara@sarajanesmith.com) that you can forward to an existing e-mail account.
Do you have mobile capabilities?
We are currently building the ZooLoo iPhone application. Stay tuned for the ZooLoo Mobile release!
Is ZooLoo international?
We are internationalizing the entire site, so it will be offered in a variety of languages. We are also working to customize specific areas of the site to fit with the cultural needs of different places around the world. You can pay for your ZooLoo account with a credit or debit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
Can I purchase my website on a credit card that is not under my name?
Yes, but you must have the appropriate billing address that is registered to that credit card, as well as the expiration date and security code.
